Basil Must Learn

The King character designed for Roland St. George for the 1985 Trinidad Carnival. Basil (a Trinidad folk character) who represents all that is evil in the society is confronted by a youthful Apollo, the Greek god of music, poetry, culture and the healing arts. Apollo goes into battle riding a lyrebird; a reminder of his iconic symbol, the lyre, given to him by Hermes.
